Men’s Basketball Ends 2025 on High Note with 106-51 Win Over PSU Abington

The Lions now usher in 2026 and Ivy League play
NEW YORK — Columbia men's basketball wrapped up non-conference play and 2025 with a commanding 106-51 victory over Penn State Abington from Schiller Court at Levien Gymnasium on Wednesday afternoon.
The Lions (11-3) went undefeated at home in non-conference play for the second consecutive season. Columbia also has double-digit non-conference wins in back-to-back years. The Lions out-rebounded PSU Abington (1-12) 62-23, scored 64 points in the paint, and dished out 33 assists on 43 made shots en route to their second 100-point game of the season.
Gerard O'Keefe led the team in scoring with 19 points. Connor Igoe recorded his first career double-double with 11 points, 11 rebounds, and five assists. Mason Ritter and Richard Nweke scored career-highs with 16 and 13 points, respectively. Blair Thompson and Miles Franklin rounded out the six Lions scoring in double-figures with 15 and 11. Hampton Sanders set career-highs with eight rebounds and 10 assists.
Both teams were neck-and-neck after a fast-paced start to the afternoon. Thompson struck first as he knocked down a three only seven seconds after tip-off. The Lions entered the first media timeout up 11-9 after Ritter threw down a lob sent up by Kenny Noland on the fast break.
Columbia made their first push ahead of the Nittany Lions after a 12-3 run gave the former the first significant lead of the night. PSU Abington went on a nearly four-minute scoring drought, while Columbia went on back-to-back double-digit runs to enter halftime up 54-33.
The Lions showed no signs of slowing down as their lead reached 30 at 14:46. Columbia ended the game on a 19-2 run with a 55-point lead before ushering in the new year.
Columbia begins Ivy League play at Cornell on Monday. Tip-off from Newman Arena is set for 5 p.m.
