Former Lions goalkeeper joins Fort Lauderdale United for final stretch of 2026 season
FORT LAUDERDALE, Fla. – Former Columbia women's soccer goalkeeper Lauren Rodriguez '25BC has signed with Fort Lauderdale United FC of the Gainbridge Super League, the club announced Wednesday. The signing is pending league and federation approval.
"Lauren is a talented goalkeeper with sharp reflexes and the ability to make important saves," said Aly Hassan, general manager of Fort Lauderdale United FC. "She adds quality and depth to our goalkeeping group, and we're pleased to bring her into the squad for this important stretch of the season."
A native of Hamilton, New York, Rodriguez spent four years at Columbia before transferring to the University of Miami for her final season of collegiate eligibility. As a senior in 2024, she started 16 matches, totaling 35 saves and four shutouts while helping lead the Lions to the Ivy League Tournament.
Rodriguez also spent time with Fort Lauderdale United FC's USL W League team during the 2026 season before signing with the club's professional squad. She joins a goalkeeping group that includes Haley Craig and Heather Hinz as Fort Lauderdale enters its final six matches of the campaign and looks to secure a spot in the Gainbridge Super League Playoffs.
The Gainbridge Super League is a Division One professional women's soccer league operated by the United Soccer League (USL). The league follows a fall-to-summer calendar and sits atop the USL's women's soccer development pathway, which also includes the pre-professional USL W League, USL Academy and USL Youth.
