The Junior goalkeeper tallied a clean sheet in Columbia's 2-0 win over Dartmouth
Mahoney anchored the Lions defensively in Saturday night's 2-0 victory over Dartmouth, helping Columbia earn its first Ivy League win of the season. The junior recorded six saves to secure the clean sheet against a Big Green team that entered the match with a 7-1-2 record and riding a five-game winning streak.
Mahoney's biggest moment came early in the second half. With Columbia leading 2-0, Dartmouth was awarded a penalty kick following a VAR review in the 52nd minute. Mahoney denied Madison Rose from the spot before making two more saves over the next minute to preserve the two-goal advantage.
The Lions went on to hand Dartmouth just its second loss of the season while snapping the Big Green's five-game winning streak. Mahoney and the Columbia defense also kept Dartmouth off the board despite facing 10 shots in the second half.
Columbia remains home next Saturday to host Cornell at Rocco B. Commisso Soccer Stadium. Kickoff is set for 1 p.m. as the Lions will celebrate their 40th anniversary as a program.
