NEW HAVEN, Conn. – The Columbia baseball team picked up where it left off in game one, scoring five runs in the first inning, and never looked back in a 9-3 win over Yale in the series finale.
Randell Kanemaru and Logan Boyher each went 3-for-3 in the nightcap.
Joey Falcone gave the Lions (13-10, 5-1) the lead with an infield single. Randell Kanemaru and Nick Maguire each recorded two-run doubles to give starting pitcher Adam Cline plenty of run support before he took the mound.
The Lions did the rest of their work in the fourth inning, using a three-run homer from Robb Paller and a double by Gus Craig to plate Falcone.
The Bulldogs (8-13, 2-6) got on the board in the fourth inning and tried to get back into it with two more in the bottom of the eighth. However,
Cline picked up the win (1-0), pitching seven innings of five-hit ball. He allowed just one run and struck out seven.
The Lions will make up their doubleheader with Brown Monday, April 5, beginning at 12 p.m. in Providence.
