NEW YORK — Columbia women's soccer (1-1-1) suffered its first loss of the season in a 2-0 defeat in Washington D.C. at the hands of #17 Georgetown.
For the third consecutive contest,
Paige Nurkin and Liz Matei split time in goal. Nurkin made two saves in the first half while Matei turned away one shot in the second.
Sophomore defender
Sam Gordon recorded the Lions' lone shot on goal.
Georgetown tallied one goal per half to come away with the win. Boo Jackson recorded the opening mark off an assist by Eliza Turner. Teammate Maja Lardner found the net, unassisted, in the second half.
Columbia will return home this Thursday, September 8, for a 7:00 p.m. match against Stony Brook at Rocco B. Commisso Soccer Stadium.
