Men’s Basketball Takes Care of Sarah Lawrence for 10th Win Ahead of Finals Break

The Lions enjoy a 19-day break before hosting Fairfield on Dec. 28
NEW YORK — Columbia men's basketball dominated to a 92-46 victory over Sarah Lawrence on Monday night inside Schiller Court at Levien Gymnasium.
The Lions (10-1) have won their first seven home games in a season for the first time since 1981-82.
Kenny Noland posted a game-high 17 points on 7-of-9 shooting. Josiah Cunningham followed with 12 points and three steals. Geronimo Rubio De La Rosa and Blair Thompson were the other two players in double-digits, each scoring 10. Zine Eddine Bedri pulled down a season-high nine rebounds to go alongside five assists, which tied his career-high.
Columbia controlled the glass Monday night, grabbing 45 rebounds. The Lions held Sarah Lawrence to 31 percent (18-of-58) shooting. The Lions continued to share the wealth, with 24 of their 34 field goals coming off assists. On the defensive end, Columbia racked up 15 steals, with 10 players having at least one and four players having at least two.
After starting the evening with a 14-2 run, Columbia maintained a steady lead throughout the first half. A well-timed 7-0 run in the first half's final minutes expanded that lead to 39-19 heading into the locker room.
The Lions dominated on boards in the first half, snagging 24 rebounds, seven of which were offensive. Columbia nearly matched its average in steals with seven in the first 20 minutes. Noland and Rubio De La Rosa led the team's first-half scoring effort, getting into double-digits early with 12 and 10 points, respectively.
Columbia stormed out of the break with 20 points in the first 6:19, expanding the run from the first half to 27-2. On the first possession of the second half, Bedri found Thompson inside for a dunk. First-year Mason Ritter then joined in on the fun with two dunks of his own. Columbia attained an 80-29 lead with 5:34 left in the game.
