
Women’s Soccer Travels to Tennessee for Two Road Contests

Columbia will face Vanderbilt Friday before meeting Tennessee Tech Sunday
NASHVILLE, Tenn. – The Columbia women's soccer team will travel to Tennessee for a pair of road contests this weekend. The Lions will start the road trip Friday night at 8 p.m. ET against Vanderbilt before wrapping up the weekend Sunday at 7 p.m. ET against Tennessee Tech.
STARTING THE SEASON
Columbia opened the 2024 campaign by playing to a scoreless draw at Hofstra last Friday. The Columbia offense played well, outshooting Hofstra, 10-3. First-year Gabby Chan tallied three shots and 61 minutes in her Columbia debut. Maia Tabion, Angel Akanyirige and Annie Faraone were each credited with a shot on goal. Senior goalkeeper Lauren Rodriguez earned her first career start and played all 90 minutes. Rodriguez played great in the net and tipped two balls over the net to maintain the shutout.
SCOUTING VANDERBILT
Vanderbilt is unbeaten at 2-0-1 to start the season. The Commodores played to a scoreless draw at No. 21/RV Georgetown to open the season. Since then, Vanderbilt has defeated Belmont, 5-0 and Saint Mary's (California), 4-1.
Sydney Watts leads the squad with three goals this season. Addie Porter has scored two goals and is credited with one assist through the first three games. Five players on the Vanderbilt roster have made it into the scoring column to start the season. Sara Wojdelko has started and played all three games, totaling five saves with just one goal allowed.
SCOUTING TENNESSEE TECH
Tennessee Tech is still in search of its first win this season as the Golden Eagles are 0-3-1 overall. Tennessee Tech has suffered losses to Samford, Saint Mary's (California) and Middle Tennessee so far. The Golden Eagles played to a 2-2 draw against Miami (Ohio). Tennessee Tech travels to Mississippi State Thursday before hosting Columbia on Sunday.
Neve Renwick leads the team in goals scored with two so far. Three other Tennessee Tech players have scored a goal this season. Maggie Conrad has played the entirety of all four games as she has tallied 28 saves, while allowing 12 goals.
