Field Hockey Edged by No. 15 Princeton on Friday Night

Lions hosted Pride Night at Baker Athletics Complex

NEW YORK — Columbia field hockey battled with No. 15 Princeton but fell, 1-0, on Pride Night Friday evening from Columbia Field Hockey Complex.

Beth Yeager's unassisted goal just 20 seconds into the fourth quarter for the Tigers was the difference. Yeager got a loose ball to trickle into the back of the cage for the lone goal of the match.

Princeton (5-2, 2-0) tallied 13 shots (seven on goal) while Columbia (2-4, 1-1) didn't get any on cage. Lions goalkeeper Katie Wimmer kept Columbia in the match once again, registering five saves on the night. Emma Reilly also came up big on a Princeton penalty corner when she made a defensive save in the third frame.

Columbia had two corners to the Tigers' four. The Lions defense held Princeton off the board on three different green cards assessed to Columbia.

The Lions travel to Staten Island on Sunday for a 12 p.m. matchup at Wagner.
