First-year pitcher becomes program’s first First Team honoree
LOUISVILLE, Ky. – First-year starting pitcher Mads Lawson continues to receive accolades for her brilliant season. The native of Murrieta, Calif., was named to the National Fastpitch Coaches Association (NFCA) First Team All-Northeast Region, as announced by the association on Thursday.
The NFCA announced 378 Division I recipients from 154 teams. Lawson is the ninth player in program history to earn All-Region honors, and the first in program history to earn First Team accolades. She is the fifth Lion under head coach Jennifer Teague to be named to the NFCA All-Region Team.
"Mads has had a really special season, and I am so proud of her," head coach Jennifer Teague said. "The part that really excites me about her first season with us is that I know this is just the tip of the iceberg. She's going to do some incredible things here over the three years and beyond. She's a special, special talent."
The 2026 Ivy League Pitcher and Rookie of the Year finished the season with a 15-9 mark, a 2.44 ERA with 157 strikeouts in 169.1 innings pitched. She finished her first season with the Lions ranked in the top 10 in a single season for lowest opponent batting average, appearances, games started, most complete games, shutouts, innings pitched, wins, and strikeouts.
