
Cook, Unger and Wu Named College Sports Madness Preseason All-Ivy

NEW YORK - Juniors Kerry Cook, Shelby Unger and Tonia Wu have been named to the College Sports Madness Preseason All-Ivy League Second Team as announced earlier this week.
Cook led the team with a .299 batting average after hitting six doubles, a triple and a home run while adding 13 RBI for a .381 slugging percentage last year. The first baseman started in 40 of her 41 games as a sophomore last season and picked up nine multi-hit games for the Lions.
Unger was named a second team All-Ivy selection last season after starting in 30 of her 31 games played for the Lions, playing both centerfield and first-base over the course of the year. Last season, Unger finished the year batting .278 with 13 RBI, four doubles, two home runs and 14 runs scored and opened the season with a solo blast against UMass Lowell.
Wu was also named a second team All-Ivy selection last year as the designated player for the Lions after playing in 41 games split between left field, designated player and some time in the circle. Offensively, Wu finished the year third on the team with a .260 batting average, posting up eight doubles, three home runs and 13 RBI for a team-leading .423 slugging percentage while adding 12 walks and a pair of hit-by-pitches to lead the team with a .345 on-base percentage. Wu also led the team in the circle, posting up a 2.97 ERA with a 7-13 record after throwing nine complete games while posting up 96 strikeouts in 136.2 innings of work to hold opponents to a .277 batting average.
The Lions will open the 2016 season on Feb. 26-28 as they head to Boca Raton, Florida, for the FAU Invitational where they will take on Boston University, Maryland, Stony Brook and Michigan State.
