LOCK HAVEN, Pa. – Joe Manchio, Matt Kazimir and Laurence Kosoy won individual titles as the Columbia wrestling team came away with the team title at the Mat Town Open, hosted by Lock Haven.
 
The Lions finished the day with 101.5 points, ahead of Finger Lakes Prep with 61, while Cornell took third with 60, and Lock Haven was fourth with 59.5.
 
Manchio improved to 8-4 with three wins on the day, all coming behind seven points on the mat. The first-year got by teammate Mike Kelly, 7-4, in the first round at 125, before topping Brandon Seidman from Bucknell, 7-2. In his final bout of the day, Manchio bested Maryland's Brandon Cray, 7-3.
 
Kazimir came away with his second straight tournament win, as he also won the 133-pound title at the Black Knight Invite last weekend. The rookie took home a pin against Enrique Sanchez from Finger Lakes in the first round of his first match for his fourth fall of the season. In the championship bout, Kazimir did not give up a point to Ramazan Attasaouv from Wyoming Seminary for the 6-0 win.

In the 165-pound bracket, Kosoy dominated his way to three wins including bonus point victories in a pair of the matches. During his opening bout, the junior topped Nathan Thacker from Finger Lakes 17-0, then came away with a 6-0 victory over Lock Haven's Larry Brown. In his final match of the day, Kosoy pinned Cameron Coy from Virginia in the second round for his third win by fall this year.
 
Columbia also picked up points from second place performances by Mike Kelly (125) and Sam Wustefeld (197), while Max Elling (165) and Michael Bulkin (197) were third in their respective brackets.
 
Kelly went 3-1 at 125, including a tech fall of Brandon Seidman (Bucknell) and a major decision against Brandon Cray (Maryland).
 
Wustefeld posted a 3-2 victory in his first match against Kolby Franklin of St. Joe's before beating Bucknell's Joe Scott 9-2 to advance to the final.
 
For Elling, a second round loss to Virginia's Cameron Coy was fought off with a pin in the consolation bracket against Bucknell's Jack Mulay. Bulkin had a similar path, losing to Austin Cooley in the first round, then looking dominant against Lock Haven's Parker McClellan in an 8-2 win, before a major decision over Franklin, 13-1, in the third place match.
 
Columbia has this next weekend off, before welcoming VMI to the Blue Gym on Saturday, Dec. 8 during a 2:00 p.m. dual.
