LOUISVILLE, Ky. — Columbia softball senior Madison Gott was selected the Louisville Slugger/NFCA National Player of the Week, as announced by the National Fastpitch Coaches Association on Tuesday.

The national player of the week selection is the first in program history for Columbia softball. Gott was also named Ivy League Player of the Week for a second time this season on Monday.

Gott batted .474 with a .524 OBP, 1.000 slugging percentage, three home runs, five runs and eight RBIs through five games. The highlight of her week came on Saturday, when she hit game-winning home runs in both of Columbia's extra-inning victories over Penn. Her first came in the eighth inning of game one to win it, 8-6 (8), and her second game in the eighth of game two, winning the game, 9-7 (8).

A senior infielder from Weston, Florida, Gott hit her third two-run home run of the series as Columbia tried to mount a comeback on Sunday. She completed the opening weekend to Ivy League play by going 7 for 13 (.583) at the plate with five runs and six RBIs. She added a two-run double in last Tuesday's, 5-0, shutout over two-time reigning Big West Conference champion Cal State Fullerton.

Gott is hitting .318 on the season and ranks among the top-five in the Ivy League in hits (21), runs (13), RBIs (16), home runs (4), triples (2), and total bases (43). Her four homers, two triples and 43 total bases all rank first.
