Jordan leads the team with three goals scored this season

NEW YORK – Senior midfielder Kat Jordan came through in a big way for the Lions Thursday night as she scored two goals to put Columbia back in the win column. With the 2-0 win over Fordham, the Lions improve to 3-1-1 overall with three games remaining before the Ivy League slate begins.

The game got off to a slow start as neither team could convert to score a goal in the first half. The Lions outshot Fordham, 6-1 in the first half with three shots on goal compared to Fordham's one.

Coming out of the break, Jordan put the Lions on the board in the 48^th minute as she took a slow dribble into the center of the offensive zone and was able to put the ball through the right side of the goal.

Jordan added her second goal of the night in the 78^th minute on an assist by senior forward Madi Pilla. Following a throw in, Pilla passed the ball off to Jordan, who made it to the top of the box before firing a shot to the top, right side of the goal that made it past the goalkeeper.

Jordan's two goals Thursday night mark the first time in her career as a Lion she has scored more than one goal in a game. She also has now scored three goals this season, which leads the team. Nata Ramirez, Maia Tabion, Pilla, Kendall McBride and Ania Prussak have each scored one goal this season.

Columbia outshot Fordham, 16-4 in the win. The Lions had nine shots on goal compared to Fordham's two. Jordan led the way offensively with six shots and five shots on goal to go along with her two goals. Ramirez registered five shots and two shots on goal.

Senior goalkeeper Paige Nurkin played all 90 minutes in the goal as she totaled two saves in the win.

UP NEXT

Following a three-game road swing, the Lions return to Rocco B. Commisso Soccer Stadium on Sunday afternoon to host Fairleigh Dickinson. Kickoff is set for 2:30 p.m.
