HANOVER, N.H. – The Columbia softball team travels to Dartmouth this weekend for the final Ivy League series of the regular season. The Lions and Big Green will play a doubleheader Saturday starting at 12:30 p.m. before wrapping up the series with a singles game at 12:30 p.m. Sunday.
THE MATCHUP
Columbia enters the weekend with a 16-22 overall record and a 9-9 mark in Ivy League action. The Lions lost the series to Yale last weekend before bouncing back to take a 5-0 win against Manhattan on Tuesday. Columbia will be looking for a sweep against Dartmouth this weekend to keep its Ivy League Tournament hopes alive.
Dartmouth is 15-15 overall this season and holds an 11-7 record in Ivy League games. The Big Green have won six games in a row after sweeping Cornell and Penn the past two weekends. Mary Beth Cahalan leads the Big Green at the plate with a .374 batting average. She has 34 hits this season, including nine doubles, two triples, two home runs and 10 RBI. Jensin Hall has proved to be a valuable asset in the circle for Darmouth. Hall owns a 2.21 ERA and 149 strikeouts with a 9-5 record in 13 starts and 20 appearances this season.
STAT LEADERS
Cami Neal leads the Lions at the plate in almost every category as she owns 44 hits for a .379 batting average this season. Neal has hit 10 home runs to go along with seven doubles, 27 RBI, 81 total bases and a .698 slugging percentage.
Raquel Reyes has seen the most action in the circle for the Lions with 18 starts and 23 appearances this season. Reyes holds a 5.35 ERA with a 7-10 record. Sarah Mikami owns a 5.20 ERA with a 6-8 record in 13 starts and 18 appearances this season.
RECORD WATCH
Neal tied the single season home run record as she hit a solo shot on the first pitch of game one against Yale last weekend. Neal is tied with Taylor Troutt, Madison Gott and Sommer Gryzbek in the top spot. One more homer this season will put her alone at the top of the list.
Neal is also in the hunt for two other single season program records. Her current .698 slugging percentage is the second-best in a single season in program history. Her .379 batting average ranks fourth in single season program history.
