Faraone's two goals sparked a late Columbia comeback to force a draw with Penn
PRINCETON, N.J. — Columbia women's soccer sophomore midfielder Annie Faraone was named the Ivy League Offensive Player of the Week for games played October 6-12. The league office announced its weekly selections on Monday afternoon.
Faraone stepped up when it mattered most for the Lions coming up from her traditional defensive position and providing an offensive spark. The Maryland product scored two second half goals to help erase a 2-0 deficit and earn a hard-fought draw for Columbia against Penn, giving the team a crucial point and keeping them in the top-4 of the Ivy League.
Her first goal came on a distance strike from outside the box, and her second goal came in the 82nd on a scramble in front of the net. You can see both of them again, HERE.
The two goals were Faraone's first two of the season, and first two of her career as a Lion.
This is the first Ivy League Offensive Player of the Week selection for Faraone, and the first weekly award for Columbia in 2025.
Columbia (4-5-3, 2-1-1) will remain in New York City for the upcoming week, and will host Yale on Saturday, October 18 at 7 p.m.
