Lions look to make it four in a row at home
NEW YORK – The Columbia softball team wraps up a four game homestand on Wednesday when UAlbany comes to the Columbia Softball Stadium. Wednesday's contest is slated for a 4 p.m. first pitch.
This weekend's games between the Lions (9-9) and the Great Danes (7-15) can be watched live on ESPN+ or followed via live stats.

LAST TIME OUT
Columbia opened Ivy League action with a three-game sweep over visiting Penn over the weekend. The Lions offense was on fire, averaging eight runs and eleven hits per contest. Twice, the Lions defeated the Quakers via a fifth inning walk-off. In the circle, Columbia got solid performances from its starting pitching, going 3-0 with a combined ERA of 1.88.
STAT LEADERS
Eleni Katsivalis is tops on the team with a .414 batting average this season, going 12-for-29 from the dish. Cami Neal and Sarah Mikami share the team lead with 19 hits each. Mikami is also tops on the team with 13 runs scored while Neal leads the team with 16 RBI.
In the circle, Emmy Davis leads the squad in wins (4), ERA (5.59) Innings pitched (37.0) and strikeouts (17). Last weekend, Davis went 2-0 and wrapped up her weekend with a 3-hit complete game over the Quakers.
SWINGING A HOT BAT
Six Lions hit over .400 last weekend against the Quakers, DP Eleni Katsivalis led the way hitting .625 (5-for-8) over the weekend with three runs scored. Cami Neal hit .545 over the weekend and boasted a 1.091 slugging percentage. Juju O'Brien, Sarah Mikami, Maddie Souza, and Kyra Mason are all on a hot streak.
WERE GOING STREAKING!
Senior second baseman Cami Neal is currently riding an eight-game hitting streak – during this stretch she is hitting .520 (13-for-25) with seven doubles and a home run. Payton Shimansky and Kyra Mason have been excellent table setters this season – the duo is both riding an 11-game reached base safely streak which is tops on the team this season.
CHASING THE RECORD
Cami Neal continues her assault on the Columbia record book. The senior from Gilbert, Ariz., slugged her eighth double and first home run of the season on Sunday. The eight doubles give her 27 for her career, which puts her nine shy of cracking the top five all-time. Her home run in the bottom of the first inning Sunday gives her 16 for her career which is tied for fifth all-time with former Lion Maria Pagane (2018-22). She is now two home runs shy of tying fourth place Maggie Johnson (2008-11).
SCOUTING UAlbany
The Great Danes enter Wednesday's contest with an overall record of 7-15 and have lost three-straight after being swept by Binghamton in their America East conference opener. At the plate, they are hitting .245 as a team and averaging 2.73 runs per contest. Freshman Ava Beal leads the team with an average of .316 (12-for-38).
In the circle, UAlbany boasts a team ERA of 4.77. Redshirt senior Kate Powers leads the team with a 4-3 record and a 3.78 ERA.
THE SERIES
Wednesday will be just the fifth every meeting between the in-state rivals, with the series knotted up 2-2. The last time these two teams met was on Feb. 22, 2020, at a tournament in Maderia Beach, Fla. In that game, the Lions defeated the Great Danes 2-1.
