NEW YORK — Columbia track and field, baseball, and lacrosse are featured in this week's edition of Lions on the Road. Every week, GoColumbiaLions.com will preview that week's upcoming games and events happening off campus.
Track and Field
Columbia Track & Field opened its outdoor season with a strong weekend at the USF Alumni Invitational and Penn Challenge, highlighted by a sprint victory and multiple podium finishes in the throws. Senior Haydn Brotschi led the way with a first-place finish in the 400m (45.90), while the relay squads finished in top eight. At Penn, the Lions' throws unit stood out as first-year Catalina Holliday captured the shot put title, and Jada Mia Puryear added a runner-up finish in the discus. The season continues this weekend at the Raliegh Relays and Navy Invitational.

Baseball
After its midweek contest against Manhattan on Wednesday, the Lions will hit the road for four-straight beginning this weekend for an Ivy League series at Dartmouth. The teams are slated for a double-header on Saturday before closing things out with a noon contest on Sunday. Columbia will then return to New York and face off against Fordham on Tuesday, March 31, in the Bronx for the first of two meetings between the cross-town rivals.
Columbia is coming off a series win over Harvard last weekend. The Lions received strong starting performances from Alex Sotiropoulos (6.1 IP, 0 ER, 9 K) and Thomas Santana (7.0 IP, 3 H, 8 K) in games one and three. Jackson Brewer homered twice and drove in five runs in th ethree games and Anthony Temesvary was 7-for-10 against the Crimson to pace the offense.
