Samantha Mahoney Named Ivy League Defensive Player of the Week

The Junior goalkeeper helped Lions earn two draws, tallying a clean sheet against St. John's
PRINCETON, N.J. — Columbia women's soccer junior goalkeeper Samantha Mahoney was named the Ivy League Defensive Player of the Week for games played August 17-23. The league office announced its first weekly selections of the season on Monday afternoon.
Mahoney started a pair of games in net for the Lions, helping them earn a pair of draws. In Columbia's season debut, Mahoney made one save in a draw against Hofstra on Friday. She followed that up with a clean sheet against St. John's on Sunday, making three saves to help the Lions earn a hard-earned point.

This is the second Ivy accolade of the Massachusetts product's career (and technically second in a row), with the first coming in the season finale of 2025. It is also the first weekly award for Columbia in 2026.
The Lions are back in action on Thursday, and will host Villanova in a non-conference contest at 6 p.m.
