In the opener, Marist jumped out to a quick 3-0 lead with one run in the first inning and two in the second on a bloop double down the left field line by Christine Jakobsen.
The Lions came back with a run in their half of the third inning. Hilary Parsons singled to lead off the frame and came home on Keli Leong's first career triple, cutting the deficit to 3-1.
Jakobsen then connected for her first home run of the season to make it 4-1 and the Red Foxes pushed across another run in the fifth for the final margin.
The beginning of game two was a different story, as Columbia burst out to a 6-0 lead after two innings. Valerie Smith singled home Maiya Chard-Yaron in the first and two more runs came home on a Marist throwing error. In the second, Leong launched a double to left-center to score two more and she came home on an RBI single from Smith to make it 6-0.
Marist slowly came back, scoring twice in the third and once in the fourth to cut the Lions lead to 6-3. Columbia made it 7-3 in the fourth as Chard-Yaron singled home Kim Krisman.
But the Red Foxes would take the lead in their half of the fifth, putting up five runs to take an 8-7 lead.
Columbia again came back, this time on Kacy Krisman's second home run of the season, a searing line drive over the left-center field fence. But Marist once again rallied, picking up two runs in the sixth and three more in the seventh to take the 13-8 victory.
Columbia (10-12) returns to action on Sunday, March 26 when the Lions will host Monmouth in a doubleheader. Game time is set for 1 p.m.
