
Lions Begin Spring Break Trip With Series at North Florida

The Lions and Ospreys will face off for the firs time ever when they meet for a four-game set in Jacksonville.
LEADING OFF
COLUMBIA'S STATUS
The Lions were swept at Cal Poly last weekend, but three of those contests were one-run ballgames and two came via walk-off for the Mustangs.
NORTH FLORIDA'S STATUS
The Ospreys topped Bethune-Cookman, 3-1, Tuesday evening and earned a series win against Western Michigan last weekend.
Jay Prather is hitting .408 with a 1.180 OPS and 14 RBI. Tanner Murphy leads the squad with three homers and five stolen bases to go with a .316 average. Tanner May has a team-high 15 RBI.
Eddie Miller and Trace Norkus have served as the teams closers, combining for seven of UNF's nine saves. Miller has not allowed an earned run in 15.1 innings and has 18 strikeouts, compared to just three walks. Norkus has fanned 16 over 11.0 frams and holds a 4.09 ERA.
INSIDE THE SERIES
Columbia and North Florida will meet for the first times this weekend.
COLUMBIA AGAINST THE ATLANTIC SUN
The Lions are 8-14 against teams currently in the Atlantic Sun. Columbia last met up with an ASUN foe in 2016, when they took two-of-three at Jacksonville. The Lions' most common opponent in the conference is Stetson (0-7).
NEWS/NOTES
NO JOSHIN'
Senior Josh Simpson struck out a career-high eight batters over 5.1 innings at Cal Poly last Friday to earn a spot on the Ivy League Weekly Honor Roll. Simpson missed all of 2018 while recovering from injury.
BUSTING OUT
Junior Liam McGill snapped out of an 0-for-18 funk with a big weekend against the Mustangs. The two-time All-Ivy Leaguer went (6-for-15) with a 1.259 OPS, a homer and three RBI in the four games in San Luis Obispo.
