LAST TIME OUT
Columbia improved to 11-4 over its last 15 games by coming back from a three-run deficit to defeat Manhattan, 6-3, on Wednesday. Sophomore shortstop Maria Pagane hit a two-run homer to put the Lions on the board in the fifth before they rallied for four in the seventh to claim the victory. First-year Abby Stuart hit a two-run single to cap the big inning. The win came on the heels of a series victory at Princeton last weekend. First-year pitcher Alexa Pinarski was the catalyst, tossing 12 of Saturday's 14 innings and allowing just four runs, three earned, on the way to both victories. She and Pagane were named to the Ivy League Honor Roll on Monday.
ALONE IN FIRST
Columbia is alone in first place in the Ivy League standings after two weekends of play. The Lions swept 2018 co-champion Dartmouth on opening weekend before winning a series against 2016 and 2017 champion Princeton on the road. This weekend, Columbia faces 2018's other co-champion, Harvard, which won the Ivy League Championship Series over Dartmouth to earn the automatic bid to the NCAA Regionals.
