Lions Host Princeton In Saturday Night Matchup

Columbia will host the Princeton Tigers in an Ivy League matchup on Saturday, Oct. 15.
NEW YORK — Fresh off a road league win, Columbia women's soccer (6-3-2, 2-1 IVY) returns to Rocco B. Commisso Soccer Stadium when they welcome Princeton (7-5-0, 1-2-0 IVY) for an Ivy League matchup on Saturday, with the game set to get going at 6 p.m.
LAST TIME OUT: The Lions last took to the pitch when they face Penn in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. In the game, Columbia used a pair of second-half goals from Ania Prussak and Kat Jordan to come back and beat the Quakers. Prussak scored in the 72nd minute, finding the back of the net on a free kick that she took from the left side. While Jordan's game-winner came in the 82nd minute, using a penalty kick to put Columbia up 2-1 and give the Lions a solid 2-1 road conference win.

WHAT TO KNOW: Columbia is sitting in a decent position in the league, entering the game in third place at 2-1-0, behind only Harvard (2-0-1) and first-place Brown (3-0-0). This will be the 36th meeting all-time between the two sides and the first in New York since 2018. Columbia last won against Princeton in 2017 and overall, the Tigers hold an 8-22-5 advantage in the series.
Three Lions are tied for the team lead in goals scored, with Prussak, Shira Cohen and Maia Tabion all scoring three goals this season. Prussak also leads the team in assists, entering Saturday's game with four on the season.
THE MATCHUP: Saturday's game will be the second league home game for the Lions, and they enter on a two-match unbeaten streak. They have outscored their Ivy League opponents 3-2 over the first three league games played.
The Tigers come into the game having lost their previous game, 6-1, in a home meeting against Brown on Oct. 8. But the Tigers have won two of their previous three, including a 2-0 win over Dartmouth on Oct. 2. Pietra Tordin leads the team with seven goals and Heather MacNab is right behind her with five goals.
As a team, the Tigers are allowing 1.42 goals per game and they are averaging 18.0 shots per game while holding teams to 8.1 shots per game.
