
Softball Returns to Action This Weekend Against Penn

The Lions will celebrate Pride Day on Saturday
NEW YORK – The Lions continue the Ivy League slate at home this weekend for a series against Penn.
The series was originally scheduled to be a Saturday doubleheader and a single game Sunday, but has been changed due to potential weather. The teams will now play a doubleheader Friday starting at 1:30 p.m. The series finale is currently scheduled for Saturday at 12:30 p.m.
Columbia enters the weekend with an 11-18 overall record after defeating Fairfield on Wednesday. The Lions are 6-6 in Ivy League play so far. Columbia currently sits in fourth place in the Ivy League standings behind Princeton, Harvard, and Yale.

PRIDE DAY
Softball will celebrate Pride Day at Saturday's game. This will be the team's first annual Pride Game, which celebrates the University's and surrounding community's LGBTQ+ community. The softball players will wear Pride themed warm ups and bracelets Saturday.
LAST TIME OUT
The Lions used a sixth inning rally to come from behind and defeat Fairfield at home Wednesday. Columbia scored a run to tie the game, 2-2 in the bottom of the sixth inning. Maddie Souza then lined a two-out two-RBI base hit to right field to score two more runs, giving the Lions a 4-2 lead. Columbia would hang on to take the win.
Cami Neal hit her second home run of the season in the bottom of the first inning Wednesday after Fairfield jumped out to a 2-0 lead. First-year left-hander Charlotte Laidler had a nice showing in 2.0 innings of work as she earned her first career win as a Lion.
TEAM LEADERS
Neal leads the team with a .330 batting average. She has 29 hits, nine doubles, one triple, two homers, and 16 RBI in starts in all 29 games this season. Jaden Hill leads the team in hits with 30. She is batting .306 with a team high 10 doubles, team high three home runs, and 10 RBI.
Megan Ryono leads the team in stolen bases with 10 so far. She is batting .304 with 28 total hits, including eight doubles, two homers, and nine RBI. Bubba Gleaves also has 28 hits for the season. She has hit six doubles, a triple, one home run, and 14 RBI.
Right-handers Jordan Hill and Raquel Reyes have led the pitching efforts this season. Jordan Hill (5-9) has tossed 92.1 total innings this season with 49 strikeouts and two complete games. Reyes (4-6) has fired 67.2 total innings with 26 strikeouts and two complete games.
THE OPPONENT
Penn sits at 3-31 overall on the season with a 1-11 mark in Ivy League play. The Quakers lost to Saint Joseph's, 7-0 on Wednesday. In last weekend's visit to Yale, Penn was swept by the Bulldogs.
Sarah Schneider leads the team at the plate with 31 hits this season and a .326 batting average. She has totaled 10 doubles, four homers, and 16 RBI in 30 starts. Brianna Brown is batting .309 with 29 hits for the season. She has one double and five RBI for the year.
Kelly Zybura has fired 100.1 total innings for the Quakers this season with a 5.30 ERA. She has 35 total strikeouts. Rachel Riley has a 6.72 ERA with 59.1 total innings. Payton Bean has pitched 32.0 innings with a 4.16 ERA.
