Lions open the season on Friday at No. 4 Florida
PRINCETON, N.J. — Columbia baseball has been tabbed to finish second in the 2024 Ivy League Preseason Poll, as voted on by eight sports information directors and eight media members from around the league. The poll was announced by the Ivy League on Monday afternoon.
Columbia is coming off a season where the Lions had three wins over nationally ranked opponents and held the 31st strongest non-conference schedule in the country. The Lions have had the highest ranked non-conference strength of schedule out of all Ivy League teams the last two seasons according to D1Baseball.com.
Nine of Columbia's opponents from last year made the 2023 NCAA Tournament regionals (Virginia, UNC Wilmington, Alabama, Troy, Samford, Tulane, UConn, Army West Point, and Penn). The Lions were the four seed in last year's inaugural Ivy League Baseball Tournament.
