Softball Hosts Iona in Midweek Matchup

NEW YORK – The Columbia softball team returns home Wednesday to host Iona in a midweek matchup at the Columbia Softball Stadium. First pitch is set for 4 p.m.
Wednesday's game will be streamed live on ESPN+. Fans can also follow along via live stats.
LAST TIME OUT
Columbia fell in a three-game series to Harvard over the weekend to drop to 12-18 overall with a 7-5 mark in Ivy League play. Jaden Hill led the Lions at the plate with five hits through three games. She was credited with a double, one RBI and a .600 slugging percentage. Hill recorded her 100th career hit in the second game of Saturday's doubleheader with a base hit up the middle. Caroline Palys, Maddie Souza, Eleni Katsivalis and Cami Neal each registered two hits for the weekend.
SCOUTING IONA
Iona is 13-20 overall this season, including a 10-5 mark in conference action. The Gaels dropped the series to Canisius over the weekend, but were able to salvage a 9-3 victory in the series finale Sunday.
Jame Sheeran leads the Iona offense with a .376 average this season. Sheeran owns a team high 38 hits, including nine doubles, one triple and three home runs. She is credited with 18 RBI this season. Kayla Haywood joins Sheeran as the only other Iona batter averaging over .300. Haywood has registered 34 hits this season and 14 RBI.
THE SERIES
Columbia leads the all-time series against Iona, 13-12. The teams met last season at Iona as the Gaels prevailed in a 10-7 win.
