PRINCETON, N.J. — Columbia baseball infielder
Jack Cooper has been named Ivy League Player of the Week for the second time this season, while infielder
Eric Jeon was tabbed Co-Rookie of the Week for the first time of his career, the conference announced on Monday afternoon.
Cooper was 5-for-14 (.357 batting average) and belted three home runs over the weekend sweep at Dartmouth. The Edwardsville, Illinois native stole a base, scored six runs, drove in seven runs, and recorded 14 total bases over three games. Cooper leads the Ivy League with 34 RBIs.
Jeon had a team-best seven hits and 10 RBIs over the weekend. The Fullerton, California native blasted his second home run of the season in Sunday's series finale win. Jeon slashed .538/.467/1.000 at Dartmouth, recording back-to-back three-hit, four-RBI games in the series.
Columbia outscored the Big Green 46-20 over the weekend, earning its second straight Ivy League sweep. Winners of eight-straight and in first place of the conference standings, the Lions (13-12, 8-1) host Fordham on Wednesday at 3:30 p.m.
