Lacrosse Announces Captains for 2025 Season

Griswold, Falcone, and DeMarinis will lead the Lions this year

NEW YORK — Columbia lacrosse head coach Anne Murray officially named three captains that will lead the Lions throughout the rest of 2024 and into the upcoming 2025 season.  The group consists of seniors Julie Griswold, Dani Falcone, and Noelle DeMarinis, effective immediately.

"This group of captains brings discipline, inspiration, and a strong belief in our team this year," Murray said. "We are going to rely on their talent, their strength, and their heart to help push our program forward. These three women are dedicated to their teammates and will be sure to take this pride of lions through whatever they are up against, with whatever it takes."

Falcone enters her senior season fresh off being named Second Team All-Ivy in 2024. The attack out of Newtown Square, Pennsylvania started 14 games for Columbia, leading the tem with 45 draw controls and second on the team with 15 assists and 37 points. Literally doing everything on the field, Falcone also collected 22 goals, 26 ground balls, and 13 caused turnovers. Falcone is also a role model off the field, being named both a member of the CSC Academic All-District Team and the IWLCA Academic Honor Roll in 2024. For her career, Falcone ranks fourth all-time on the Lions' all-time draw controls list, and is one point away from cracking 100 for her career.

Griswold has been a leader on the defensive side of the ball throughout her three years with the Lions. Starting in all 45 of Columbia's games since she joined the team in 2022, Griswold is often tasked with locking down the opposing team's best player. The Alexandria, Virginia product racked up 12 caused turnovers and 18 ground balls in 2024, after earning Second Team All-Ivy honors in 2023 with 13 caused turnovers and 13 ground balls. Off the field, Griswold was named a part of the IWLCA Academic Honor Roll in 2024.

DeMarinis begins her senior year with three seasons of incredible leadership on and off the field under her belt. After missing all of 2023 due to injury, DeMarinis returned to the field in 2024 and matched or set career-highs in assists, points, and ground balls. In the Lions' victory over CCSU, DeMarinis scored three goals, notching her first career hat trick. Off the field, DeMarinis was named a part of the IWLCA Academic Honor Roll.

The Lions will be releasing their fall schedule in the coming weeks. The full 2025 schedule will be revealed later this year.
