David Vandercook '15CC joined the Columbia baseball staff as Assistant Coach/Recruiting Coordinator in September 2023.

Columbia went back-to-back after winning a second consecutive Ivy League title in 2025. The Lions also won the Ivy League Tournament crown to earn a bid to the NCAA Regionals, where Columbia knocked off Southern Miss in the opening round. Columbia saw 10 student-athletes earn All-Ivy League honors, including Ivy League Player of the Year and ABCA All-Region selection Sam Miller.

Offensively, the Lions led the Ivy League in seven offensive categories, including slugging (.508), scoring (8.8) and home runs (74).

In his first season on staff, Vandercook helped guide the Lions to a 26-18 (17-4) mark. Columbia captured its 16th Ivy League title and seventh since 2008. Columbia's 17 conference wins tied the program record set in 2022. Also in 2024, the Lions set the single-season program record in home runs (87) for the third straight year, along with RBIs (391), runs scored (416), total bases (903), doubles (131), and slugging percentage (.567).

Vandercook was a three-year starter at Columbia and helped the Lions win the Ivy League title all three of those seasons from 2013-15. In 162 games for the Lions under Boretti, Vandercook batted .248 with 126 hits, 14 home runs, 90 RBIs, and a .362 OBP. Vandercook was named First Team All-Ivy League in back-to-back seasons in 2014 and 2015. Following a stellar senior year in 2015 in which he batted .308 over 50 games, Vandercook also garnered ABCA All-Region recognition.

No stranger to New York City, Vandercook is coming off a four-year stint with Manhattan College as an assistant coach/recruiting coordinator. With the Jaspers, Vandercook was responsible for hitters, infielders, and outfielders.

In 2022, Vandercook aided in the development of First Team All-MAAC shortstop David Bermudez and outfielder Pete Durocher, both of which had career years for the Jaspers. Manhattan's 2023 recruiting class was ranked 57th in the country according to Perfect Game.

Prior to his tenure with Manhattan, Vandercook was an assistant coach at Dartmouth for a year. He worked with Big Green infielders and oversaw hitting. Vandercook’s other collegiate coaching stops include Middlebury College and Claremont McKenna College.

The Boca Raton, Florida native received a bachelor’s degree in history at Columbia.
