
Lions Welcome Rutgers To Town Tuesday

Columbia will host the Scarlet Knights in its final scheduled home game of the season in a non-conference matchup.
NEW YORK – The Columbia baseball team will play its final scheduled game at Robertson Field at Satow Stadium Tuesday, April 23, when they face off against Rutgers at 3:30 p.m. The contest will be aired live on ESPN+.
COLUMBIA'S STATUS
• The Lions (16-16) won their seventh consecutive Ivy League series, dating back to last year, after taking both ends of a Sunday doubleheader over Brown. Columbia dropped the opener, 8-5, before claiming 11-3 and 9-6 victories on Senior Day.
• Columbia remains in first in the Ivy League standings at 11-4, a half-game in front of Harvard heading into the Crimson's final game at Dartmouth. The Lions and Crimson meet up for three games in Cambridge this weekend.
• Chandler Bengtson belted three homers and posted six RBI Sunday, bringing his career total to 29. He is already Columbia's all-time leader and currently checks in at No. 6 on the Ivy League list, five shy of the mark of 34 held by Brown's Pete Greskoff.
• Dan Harrington has saved two of the last three games for the Lions, closing out a 1-0 win over Monmouth on April 17 and the finale against the Bears Sunday. Five of Columbia's last six victories have required a save. Jimmy Smiley has two and Tim Post pitched the final 3.1 in Sunday's opener against Brown.
RUTGERS STATUS
• The Scarlet Knights (15-21) won 2-of-3 against Purdue over the weekend.
• Tim Dezzi leads the offense with a .320 average and 20 runs scored.
• Carmen Sclafani is the team's top run-producer with four homers and 20 RBI.
• Rutgers' team ERA is 4.44 and the bullpen is anchored by Serafino Brito, who has eight saves and is 3-3 on the season. He has appeared in 22 games and has 35 strikeouts in 35.2 innings.
SERIES HISTORY
Columbia is 42-51 all-time against Rutgers, but the teams have split the last eight meetings, dating back to 2010. The Scarlet Knights are making their first appearance at Robertson Field since 2013. Last year, Rutgers won 15-4 in Piscataway.
COLUMBIA VS. THE BIG TEN
The Lions are 6-16 against the rest of the teams currently in the Big Ten. The Lions split a four-game series at Penn State in 2017, the last non-Rutgers opponent from the conference.
