Lions look to maintain positioning in Ivy title race
NEW YORK — Columbia softball (18-17, 10-4 Ivy) has two midweek games on its schedule, concluding a three-game series at Yale (15-24, 9-8 Ivy) on Tuesday before hosting Wagner (13-26, 3-9 NEC) on Wednesday. Tuesday's game in New Haven, a makeup from Saturday's postponement, will start at 3 p.m. First pitch for Wednesday in New York is scheduled for 4 p.m.

LAST TIME OUT
Columbia split a doubleheader in New Haven on Sunday. The Lions scored three eighth-inning runs to defeat the Bulldogs in the opener, 4-2, but surrendered a 2-0 lead with five unanswered runs to fall in game two, 5-2. Madison Canby picked up her 30th career victory by pitching eight solid innings in the front end. Max Ortega was 3-for-6 on the day with a triple, a homer and three RBIs. Maria Pagane was 3-for-7 with a pair of doubles.
IVY LEAGUE RACE
Columbia (10-4 Ivy) enters the week a half-game behind Harvard (11-4 Ivy). The Crimson took two of three at Princeton over the weekend, but the Lions have a chance to pull even if they can get by the Bulldogs on Tuesday. Columbia's 10-4 Ivy League start is its best in program history and marks just the second time they've won at least 10 Ivy games in a season (13-8, 2018).
The complete Ivy League standings are listed below. The top two teams at the end of the regular season will advance to the Ivy League Playoff, May 10-11, at the site of the No. 1 seed.

- Madison Canby became the fourth pitcher in program history to pick up 30 career wins on Sunday, tying her with Brooke Darling (2012-14) for third all-time. Canby's next win will move her into sole possession of third place.
- Columbia either leads the Ivy League lead in home runs (22), while ranking No. 2 in runs scored (162), RBIs (147), slugging (.425) and on-base percentage (.363).
- Columbia's pitching staff carries a 3.50 ERA in Ivy League play, which ranks No. 2 in the Ancient Eight.
- Sommer Grzybek is one home run away from 24 in her career, which would tie her with Taylor Troutt '18CC for second all-time. - First-year Abby Stuart ranks among the top 10 in the Ivy league in RBIs (23) and home runs (5). She is slugging .659 in Ivy League play, which ranks her eighth.
- Columbia boasts three of the Ivy League's top 10 players in RBIs (Ortega, Grzybek, Stuart).
- Maria Pagane is hitting a team-best .440 in Ivy League play with 15 runs and 10 RBIs.
- Madison Canby (7-7) leads the Ivy League in complete games (9) and leads the Columbia pitching staff with a 3.24 ERA, 48 strikeouts and 95.0 innings pitched.
- First-year pitcher Alexa Pinarski (10-7) ranks No. 2 in the Ivy League in wins behind Harvard's Katie Duncan (12-4). She has thrown seven complete games this season, tied for second-most in the league.
SCOUTING WAGNER
The Seahawks lost three of four in NEC action over the weekend, splitting with Sacred Heart and dropping a pair to league-leading LIU Brooklyn. They've lost five out of their last six overall. Karen Prihoda is hitting a team-best .358 with 40 runs scored and 23 stolen bases, ranking 29th in the NCAA in both runs per game (1.03) and stolen bases per game (0.59). Kaila Smith has hit a team-best seven homers to go with 38 RBIs. She is slugging .542. Wagner's pitching staff has been beat up to the tune of a 6.53 ERA. Kayla Hooks is their ace, who is 4-11 with a 6.33 ERA in 79.2 innings pitched. None of Wagner's four pitchers carry an ERA below 6.00.

Columbia leads the all-time duel, 11-5. They two sides last met in 2014, splitting a doubleheader in Staten Island. Columbia has won three of the last four in the series. Wagner's last trip to Columbia came in 2002.
