Lacrosse Ready to Resume Competition at UConn

Columbia will travel to Storrs for a mid-week matchup.
NEW YORK -- The Columbia lacrosse team (2-6) will travel to Storrs, Connecticut for a midweek matchip against the University of Connecticut on Wednesday at 3:00 P.M.. The contest marks Columbia's first competition since March 19 when the Lions met Cornell in Ithaca.

Here are five things to keep in mind ahead of first draw:
HOMETOWN HERO
Assistant coach Shannon Nee returns to Storrs where she was an IWLCA All-American goalkeeper for the Huskies. A 2016 graduate, Nee earned four consecutive All-Big East honors includinng a pair of Big East Goalie of the Year nods. At Columbia, she has led the Lions' goalkeepers to an 83-save season thus far, ranking second in the Ivy League. On five starts, rookie keeper Simone Korysewski boasts 9.40 save per game average (third in League) and .470 save percentagee (fifth).
STATISTICAL LEADERS
Offensively, Columbia is paced by first-year Dani Falcone. Falcone has recorded 13 goals on 21 attempts while dishing out three assists for a team-best 16 points. She is followed by senior Rachel Graff (12 goals), classmate Kate Cunning (11 goals), and team co-captain Katie Lutz (10 goals). Falcone and sophomore Sophie Zachara lead the Lions on the draw, securing 21 controls a piece.
IVY LEAGUE HONOREES
Six different Lions have landed on the Ivy League Weekly Honor Roll thus. far Those recipients are detailed below.
Columbia was not eligible for the Week Six honor roll as the Lions did not compete.

THE OPPONENT
The Huskies sit at 8-1 overall having defeated seven consecutive opponents dating back to the third contest of the season. UConn's lone lost came at #13 James Madison in a 13-7 defeat.
Junior Kate Shaffer headlined the Huskies this week, collecting Big East weekly honors after recording a conference-best 11 goals (12 points) in victories over Albany and Hofstra. Shaffer's 24 goals on the season closely trail team leader Sydney Watson. Watson has found the back of the net 31 times this season, including four game-winning goals. With nine assists, the junior's 40 total points pace the Big East. Additionally, her 75 draw controls are a Big East best.
Senior Landyn White has made nine starts in cage, holding opponents to 11.75 goals per game. White has collected a team-best 23 ground balls. She is assisted on defense by junior Ariana White whose 17 caused turnovers lead UConn. On the draw,
ON DECK
Columbia is schceduled to welcome San Diego State to Baker Athletic Complex this Saturday, marking the conclusion of the Lions' non-conference slate. The Lions will go on to face Ivy League rivals, Dartmouth, Harvard, Yale, Princeton, and Penn in the final third of the season.
