Lacrosse Announces Captains for 2027 Season

The four veterans will look to build on a 2026 campaign that saw Columbia finish 7-8 overall, marking the program's most wins in a season since 2017. The Lions also earned their first Ivy League victory since 2019.
Becker enters her senior campaign following a standout junior season in which she scored 43 goals, tied for the sixth-most in a single season in program history, while her 54 points ranked eighth. Her performance earned her Second Team All-Ivy League honors, while she ranked among the top 50 nationally in both goals and shots per game. Becker also finished second in the Ivy League in shots per game, fourth in goals per game and fifth in draw controls per game.
A finalist for Columbia Female Rookie of the Year as a first-year, Becker enters her final season less than 10 goals and 10 points away from cracking the program's all-time top-10 lists in both categories.
Zhai will enter the 2027 season with 68 career assists, ranking fourth in program history. She recorded 27 assists during the 2026 campaign, the sixth-most in a single season at Columbia, while finishing third on the team with 48 points.
The attacker ranked among the top 50 nationally in assists per game and seventh in the Ivy League in the category last season. Zhai was also named Ivy League Offensive Player of the Week, becoming Columbia's first women's lacrosse player since 2019 to earn a weekly conference honor.
Kimche returns as an experienced presence in goal after another strong season for the Lions. She ranked fourth in the Ivy League in saves per game last season while leading all conference goalkeepers in ground balls per game. Kimche finished the year with a team-high 45 ground balls and established herself as a key piece of Columbia's defensive unit.
Goger enters her senior campaign as another experienced member of the Lions' defense. She started all 15 games in 2026, recording six ground balls and six caused turnovers. Goger earned All-Ivy League Honorable Mention as a sophomore and will look to once again play an important role on the defensive end during her final season.
The Lions will be releasing their fall schedule in the coming weeks. The full 2027 schedule will be revealed later this year. Columbia announced the addition of nine newcomers last week, which can be found HERE, along with the full 2027 roster.
