Lacrosse Set to Host UNH & UConn

Lions will play two games in three days at Kraft Field
NEW YORK -- The Columbia lacrosse team (3-6) has a busy schedule ahead, as the Lions will be welcoming both the University of New Hampshire and University of Connecticut to New York City for non-conference matchups over the course of the next three days. Columbia, who remains .500 in non-conference play so far this season, will host UNH at 2 p.m. on Thursday, and then host UConn on Saturday at 7 p.m. under the lights at Robert K. Kraft Field.
LAST TIME OUT
The Lions took on the Brown Bears in an Ivy League clash last time out, but suffered a 19-8 loss after the Bears had a monster first half.
Brown took a quick 2-1 lead in the first quarter, and from that point, went on a huge run to close out the half. The Bears would score 11 of the next 12 goals, and took a 13-2 lead into halftime.
Columbia's offense came alive in the second half, and kept pace with Brown the rest of the way, but the first half deficit was too much to overcome. The Bears held on for the victory.
Dani Falcone led Columbia's attack with a hat trick. Kate Cunning added two goals, while Dylan Silar collected two assists. Sophie Zachara, Cecelia Messner, and Cordelia Flemming had one goal each.
SCOUTING UNH
The Wildcats enter tomorrow's game with a 2-6 overall record,
Last time out, UNH dropped an American East matchup against Binghamton, 12-7.
New Hampshire's longest active point streak of 10 games belongs to Allie Connerty. She has nine goals and 24 assists for 33 points, which calculates to averages of 2.40 assists and 3.30 points per game. Katie Taranto lead's UNH with 23 goals on the season. Mackenzie MacEachern is a threat off the draw, leading the team with 36 draw controls.
The Wildcats are 1-5 on the road this season, but UNH was victorious in its most recent road game, defeating UMass Lowell, 15-11, on March 18. Earlier this year, New Hampshire was defeated by Ivy League foe Dartmouth, 13-12.
The Wildcats have a 3-0 lifetime record against Columbia, which includes last year's 15-12 win at Wildcat Stadium.
In 2022, UNH finished the season 7-8.
SCOUTING UCONN
The Huskies make the trip to NYC with a 6-3 record on the season.
UConn also enters the contest on a two-game winning streak, having most recently taken down both UAlbany and Hofstra in non-conference contests.
The Huskies have only played two road games on the season, and have a 1-1 record. The one loss came against fellow Ivy League member Cornell on Saturday, March 18.
UConn's leading goal scorer is Kate Shaffer, who has 28 on the season. She is also tied for the team lead with 14 assists with Lia LaPrise. Ariana Kline has a team-high 13 caused turnovers. Goalkeeper Landyn White has compiled 111 saves on the season.
Last year, the Huskies went 13-5, and lost to James Madison in the first round of the NCAA Tournament.
PRIDE GAME
Saturday's game against UConn will be Columbia's pride game. The Lions will be raising funds for the Trevor Project.
The Trevor Project is the leading advocate for LGBTQ youth mental health in preventative and intervention efforts at the federal, state, and local level to address factors that place LGBTQ youth at significantly higher risk of suicide.
