Softball Shifts Focus to Ivy League Tournament

CAMBRIDGE, MASS. – Columbia lost an 11-2 contest at Harvard on Saturday to finish off the regular season schedule with a 16-22 overall record and an 11-10 mark in Ivy League play.
The Lions will now shift their focus to the Ivy League Tournament as the Lions earned the No. 4 seed. Columbia will meet No. 1 seed Princeton in the first round. As the highest seed, Princeton will host the four-team tournament from May 11-13.
Harvard wasted no time as the Crimson plated six runs in the bottom of the first inning to take the lead. Harvard tacked on a run in the second inning and three runs in the third to take a commanding 10-0 lead after three innings.
Columbia scored its first run of the day in top of the fourth inning. Bubba Gleaves reached on a two-out base hit up the middle to set up the scoring play. Cami Neal came to the plate next and drove a single through the left side that moved Gleaves to third before she was able to score on an error on Harvard's third baseman.
The Lions added another run in the top of the fifth inning on a Megan Ryono RBI single to left center. Eleni Katsivalis scored the unearned run after reaching on a throwing error to start the inning.
Harvard added one more run in the bottom of the fourth inning as it finished off an 11-2 five-inning run-rule victory.
Right-hander Jordan Hill (6-12) suffered the loss as she got the start in the circle for the Lions. She allowed four runs on three hits to start the game. Lefty Charlotte Laidler and right-hander Sarah Mikami each tossed 2.0 innings in relief. Laidler allowed four runs on seven hits. Mikami allowed three runs on four hits as she struck out one.
