Ivy Champs
Columbia powered past Cornell on April 28 at Booth Field to capture its 16th Ivy League Championship. With three road conference sweeps over Dartmouth, Brown, and Cornell, Columbia has won all of its road league games this season for the first time since Ivy League baseball's inception in 1993. The Lions tied their program record with 17 conference wins this year.
The Lions have now won seven Ivy League titles under head coach Brett Boretti, with six of them coming since 2012.
Home Run Kings
Five of the six Ivy League hitters with double-digit home runs are from Columbia (Jack Cooper, Cole Hage, Sam Miller, Skye Selinsky, and Anton Lazits). Penn's Wyatt Henseler is the only other Ivy League hitter with double-digit home runs. The Lions enter the Ivy League Tournament with 86 home runs, which is 37 more than Penn, who rank second in the category.
Single-Season Records Smashed
On May 14 at Wagner, Columbia set a new single-season record for runs scored in the third inning on a Cole Fellows two-run double, giving the Lions 404 on the year. The Lions also set a new single-season record in total bases against the Seahawks, with 880 on the year. Both marks were previously set in 2022.
In game two against Princeton on May 4, Jack Cooper's RBI single in the fifth inning gave Columbia 360 runs batted in for the year, setting a new single-season program record. Cole Hage's double in the second inning of the series finale against the Tigers set a new single-season program record as well, giving the Lions 119 on the year.
On April 27 at Cornell, Griffin Palfrey hit Columbia's 73rd home run of the year and set a new program single-season record that was previously broken last season.
Columbia's .577 slugging percentage through 42 games this year is the highest ever in a season. The previous mark of .531 was set in 1984.
