Michelle Zhai Named Ivy League Offensive Player of the Week

The junior attack helped lead the Lions to victory over Sacred Heart with a career-best eight points
PRINCETON, N.J. — Columbia lacrosse's junior attack Michelle Zhai was named the Ivy League Offensive Player of the Week for games played February 9-15. The league office announced its weekly selections on Monday afternoon.
Zhai delivered one of the top single-game performances in program history in Columbia's season-opening 14-5 win over Sacred Heart, recording four goals and four assists for eight points. Her eight-point outing is tied for the fourth-most in a game in program history, while her four goals and eight total points both marked career highs. Zhai also tallied a man-down goal and two man-up scores, impacting the game in every situation, while adding a caused turnover on defense.
Zhai becomes the first Columbia Lacrosse player to win an Ivy League player of the week accolade since Lindsey Ewertsen all the way back in 2019 when she helped lead the Lions to a 13-7 win over UConn with a career-best eight points.

The Lions will return to NYC for their home opener on Wednesday, February 18 against Lafayette. Columbia will take on the Leopards at 2 p.m. at Kraft Field.
