Baseball
The Lions entering the second consecutive weekend facing a Big 12 opponent after a doubleheader with Kansas State on Feb. 27 before dropping the series finale the following day in Manhattan, Kansas. The Lions earned their first win of the season in the opener, rallying for a 9–8 victory behind a five-run seventh inning. Junior Owen Estabrook led the offense with a career-high five RBI, including a two-run homer that sparked the comeback, while Columbia collected 12 hits in the win. In the nightcap, the Lions fell 2–1 despite a strong performance from senior Tomas Lopez on the mound, who threw seven scoreless innings to keep the game close. In Saturday's finale, Columbia again struck early when Estabrook delivered a two-run double in the first inning. However, Kansas State responded with a decisive five-run second inning, highlighted by a three-run homer from Ty Smolinski, and held on for a 5–2 victory. Columbia's bullpen kept the Wildcats quiet the rest of the way, allowing just two hits over the final six innings.
This weekend marks the first ever meeting between Columbia and West Virginia.
