GAME ONE RECAP: Dartmouth 7, Columbia 0
Dartmouth came out attacking first as the Big Green rallied in the bottom of the first with three runs on a pair of hits to take the early 3-0 advantage.
With the Lions still trailing, 3-0, in the top of the fourth, Reilly Metzger was able to get the first Columbia hit of the game as she led off the inning with a single into the left-center gap. After Maddie Gott was able to follow it up with a hit of her own under the glove of the Dartmouth third-baseman, the Big Green was able to turn a double play before getting a final groundout to end the inning and keep it a 3-0 ballgame.
After a Columbia error to open the bottom of the fifth, the Big Green was able to take advantage of the error to put across three more runs on three hits to extend the lead out to 6-0 heading into the sixth.
Following two more Columbia errors and a passed ball, the Big Green was able to put across another run before holding the Lions hitless the rest of the way to seal a 7-0 victory.
Morgan McCalmon (9-3) earned the win for Dartmouth after throwing six innings of work, allowing only two hits while striking out five. Tonia Wu (5-7) took the loss after giving up four earned runs on eight hits while striking out four.
Metzger and Gott picked up the only two hits for the Lions while Gott also added the team's only walk of the game.
GAME TWO RECAP: Dartmouth 12, Columbia 2 (5 inn.)
Once again it was Dartmouth who put runs on the board first as it rallied together for three runs on three hits in the bottom of the second to take a 3-0 lead into the third.
The Lions responded immediately back as Maura Lynch worked her second walk of the game to put a runner on with one out. After a quick second out, Maddie Gott was able to step to the plate and blast a two-out, two-run home run over the left-center fence to cut the Dartmouth lead to 3-2.
Unfortunately the Big Green answered with a two-run shot of its own in the bottom half of the frame as Katie McEachern sent one over the right-center fence to give Dartmouth a 5-2 lead heading into the fourth.
While Jordan Townsend was able to lead off the top of the fourth with a double down the left-field line, the Lions were unable to get her across as Dartmouth got out of the jam to keep it a 5-2 game after three and a half innings of play.
The Big Green used that momentum in the bottom half of the fourth, putting up seven runs on seven hits, including a three-run home run by Katie McEachern, to give Dartmouth a 12-2 advantage.
Columbia came out swinging in the top of the fifth as Reilly Metzger and Maddie Gott were able to open the frame with back-to-back singles into left, the Big Green was able to get out of the inning and strand them both on base to seal the 12-2 five-inning victory.
Breanna Ethridge (5-3) earned the win after allowing two runs on two hits while striking out five in four innings of work. Kayla Maloney (1-6) took the loss after 3.2 innings of work, giving up 10 runs on 10 hits while picking up one strike out.
Gott finished the second game 2-for-3 with a pair of RBI while Maura Lynch worked a pair of walks for the Lions in her first game as the leadoff hitter.
The Lions will return to action on Thursday, April 14 as they head across the river to New Jersey to take on Saint Peter's in a doubleheader starting at 2 p.m.
