Lions Return to Robertson Field at Satow Stadium Wednesday to Host Monmouth

Fresh off its sweep at Yale, Columbia comes back to the friendly confines of its home ballpark.
NEW YORK – The Columbia baseball team makes its first April appearance at home when Monmouth comes to town Wednesday, April 17, for a 3:30 p.m. contest.
COLUMBIA'S STATUS
• The Lions are coming off a three-game sweep of Yale over the weekend. Columbia won both ends of a doubleheader in extra innings, 8-2 in 13 in game one and 3-2 in 10 in the nightcap. On Sunday, the Lions claimed a 4-1 triumph to surge after 7.2 innings of one-run ball from Ben Wereski.
• Columbia is now ahead of Penn and Harvard by one game in the Ivy League standings at 9-3 with nine conference games left to play.
• Josh Nicoloff continued his tear, hitting .353 (6-for-17) with three doubles and five RBI in four games on his way to Ivy League Player of the Week honors. His two-run double in the top of the 13th plated the go-ahead scores in game one against the Bulldogs. Over his last 10 contests, Nicoloff is hitting .405 with nine RBI.
• Junior relief pitcher Leo Pollack made his 50th career outing on Satruday in New Haven, moving him into seventh all-time on the program's appearance list.
MONMOUTH'S STATUS
• The Hawks hold a 14-19-1 overall record and a 4-5 mark in the MAAC heading into a Tuesday matchup against Seton Hall.
• Monmouth took 2-of-3 against Niagara at home over the weekend, splitting a doubleheader on Saturday (9-3 win, 5-0 loss) and earning an 8-3 decision Sunday. The Hawks are also 2-0 against teams in the Ivy League, posting wins over Princeton and Penn.
• Clay Koniecki paces the club with a .322 batting average, four homers and 18 RBI. JD Andreessen is right behind, hitting .317 and leads the squad with 10 doubles, five homers and 27 RBI.
• On the base paths, Kyle Norman and JP Walsh each have 10 stolen bases in 12 tries.
• As a team, the Hawks boast a 4.80 ERA with 268 strikeouts, compared to 123 walks.
INSIDE THE SERIES
Columbia is 7-5 all-time against Monmouth, but the Hawks have won four-straight. Last season, the Lions took a 2-0 lead in the top of the first on a Chandler Bengtson homer, but Monmouth answered with five in the bottom of the frame and went on for a 9-3 victory.
ON DECK
The Lions remain at home for one last Ivy League series against Brown. The teams will meet for a twinbill on Saturday, April 20, beginning at 11:30 a.m. followed by a single game Sunday, April 21 at noon. Sunday's contest will mark Columbia's senior day. All three games will be broadcast live on ESPN+.
