Senior midfielder Lindsey Ewertsen had a game-high four points and season-best 10 draw controls

NEW YORK – Senior midfielder Lindsey Ewertsen recorded a game-high five points and a season-best 10 draw controls, but the Columbia women's lacrosse team fell to the 12th-ranked Penn Quakers, 21-7, at Lawrence A. Wien Stadium on Saturday evening in the Lions' home finale.

The game was dedicated to the One Love Foundation, which aims to end relationship violence by educating young people on the difference between healthy and unhealthy relationships. For more information on the One Love Foundation, visit joinonelove.org.

Ewertsen led the Columbia offense with three goals and two assists, while junior midfielder Fallon Quinn had a pair of scores and senior midfielders Emily Manville and Orna Madigan had one goal apiece.

Penn (10-4, 4-2 Ivy League) drew first blood, putting the first point on the board, but the Lions responded with back-to-back goals to take a 2-1 advantage at the 24:42 mark in the first half. The Quakers capitalized on draw controls, using an 11-0 run to quiet Columbia's offense. With 8:34 remaining in the period, Ewertsen sent in her second score of the game, but Penn would find the back of the net twice more to close the half.

Columbia (4-10, 1-5 Ivy) opened up the second-half scoring as Ewertsen completed her hat trick with a free position goal with just over 29 minutes to play. Penn would extend its lead by four more before Quinn sent in her first score of the evening with just over 11 minutes remaining. Quinn would score once more and Manville recorded the final goal of the game off a dime from sophomore attacker Alexandria Absey.

The Lions will wrap up the season next Saturday, April 27, at Brown. The matchup is set for a 1 p.m. ET start time at Stevenson-Pincince Field.
