Columbia concludes its five-game home stand in 3:00 P.M. contest.
NEW YORK -- Columbia lacrosse (2-2) will conclude its five-game season-opening home stand on Tuesday against Monmouth (2-2). The contest will be played on Robert K. Kraft Field at Lawrence A. Wien Stadium; first draw is scheduled for 3:00 P.M..
Fans in attendance are expected to abide by the Columbia Athletics updated Venue and Spectator policies. Those tuning in from afar can catch all the action, live, on ESPN+ or through statistics at GoColumbiaLions.com.
The Lions look to get back in the win column following a pair of setbacks against Rhode Island rivals Bryant and Brown. Regardless of recent results, Columbia's young team, under first year head coach Anne Murray, has proven promising. Against Brown, first-year Dani Falcone recorded her first collegiate hat trick to lead the Lions in goals scored (7). On the defensive end, rookie goalkeeper Simone Koryszewski has played the majority of minutes between the pipes, turning away 44 shots. Five different, including two rookies, Lions have landed on the Ivy League Weekly Honor Roll through three weeks. Those recipients are detailed below.
Week 1 | Simone Koryszewski, Rachel Graff
Week 2 | Katie Lutz, Chandler Jean-Jacques
Week 2 | Simone Koryszewski, Dani Falcone
Monmouth also looks to rebound from a two-game slump after falling to #14 Rutgers (8-19) and Army (13-18), last week. This season, the Nighthawks welcomed standout freshman Caroline Brennan. Brennan was named MAAC Offensive Player and Rookie of the Week in February after recording nine goals against CCSU. With ten goals on the season and seven assists for 17 points, she leads Monmouth in both goals and total points. Graduate student Cassidy Orban also tops the team's charts in goals scored (10) including a pair of game-winning goals.
Junior Kennedy Fruit and sophomore Madi Bednarik have split time in goal, making four appearances on two starts each. Together, they have made 43 saves for a combined .443 save percentage/
