Baseball Set For Midweek Matchup At Marist

Lions make first-ever trip to McCann Baseball Field
POUGHKEEPSIE, N.Y. — Columbia baseball closes out its eight-game road trip against Marist on Wednesday at McCann Baseball Field. First pitch is scheduled for 3:30 p.m. and will air on the Red Fox Network.

Last Time Out
The Lions (18-13, 8-4) dropped their first Ivy League series of the season last weekend at Princeton. Columbia won game one of Sunday's doubleheader, 5-4, before falling in game two to Princeton, 7-5, at Clarke Field.
Cole Hage went 4-for-8 on the day with a home run, two RBIs, and two runs scored. After three RBIs on Friday, Weston Eberly drove in three more runs on Sunday on three hits. Anton Lazits hit the game-winning home run in game one and Skye Selinsky also homered in game two. Justin Tucker picked up his fifth save of the season in game one of the doubleheader.
Turning Two
Columbia ranks 12th in the country in double plays turned per game. The Lions have totaled 30 double plays, which ranks best in the Ivy League.

The Lions are ranked 26th in the country with a .310 batting average and 31st in the nation with 1.68 home runs per game. Columbia leads the Ivy League in batting average, hits, runs, home runs, RBIs, total bases, slugging percentage, and walks.
Eberly Added To Posey Watch List
Catcher Weston Eberly has been added to the Buster Posey National Collegiate Catcher of the Year Award Watch List. The Wichita Sports Commission has added nine catchers to the official watch list of the Buster Posey National Collegiate Catcher of the Year Award. Because the award is given annually to the top division one collegiate catcher, the list will be updated to include other candidates until May 8, 2023.
Dean Forthun '10CC was the last Lions catcher to be named to this list, when it was known as the Johnny Bench Award.

The Lions have two players receiving national recognition from D1 Baseball.
Right fielder Hayden Schott ranks No. 81 on D1 Baseball's Top 100 Outfielders List.
Catcher Weston Eberly ranks No. 45 on D1 Baseball's Top 50 Catchers List. Eberly was ranked No. 37 on D1 Baseball's Preseason Top 50 Catchers List.
Outfielder Cole Hage checked in at No. 122 on D1 Baseball's Preseason Top 150 Outfielders List. Last season, Hage led the Lions in batting average (.335) and on-base percentage (.454).
About Marist
The Red Foxes visit Hartford on Tuesday before hosting the Lions. Marist is 7-26 with a 3-6 record in MAAC play. Bayram Hot leads the team with a .396 batting average and 43 hits. Brian Hart and Niko Amory are tied for the team lead with six home runs. Marist's pitching staff has totaled a 9.82 ERA so far this season.
Series History
Wednesday's game marks the second meeting between Columbia and Marist. Last season in the first-ever meeting between the two teams, the Lions defeated the Red Foxes, 15-7, at Robertson Field at Satow Stadium. Cole Hage, Andy Blake, Mike Decker, and Hayden Schott all drove in two runs in the win. Camron Hubble earned the win on the mound.
