Lions will shift focus to Ivy League Tournament

PHILADELPHIA — Columbia baseball dropped the final game of the regular season at Penn on Sunday, 10-4, from Tommy Lasorda Field at Meiklejohn Stadium.

The Lions (23-20, 11-10) will be the No. 4 seed in the Ivy League Tournament and will play No. 1 Penn at 3 p.m. on Friday. All tournament games will be played at host site Tommy Lasorda Field at Meiklejohn Stadium. Harvard is the No. 2 seed and Princeton is the No. 3 seed. The tournament will follow a double elimination format.

Andy Blake laced a single in the fifth inning, extending his on-base streak to all 43 games this season. In game two on Saturday, Blake set the program's single season record with his 72nd hit of the year. He finishes the regular season with 73 hits.

Penn jumped out to a 2-0 lead in the home second on a Seth Werchan two-run home run to right center off Lions starter Brandon Madrigal. The next inning, Wyatt Henseler followed up with a solo blast to give the Quakers a 3-0 lead.

Davis Baker made it 4-0 Quakers in the fight inning after belting Penn's third home run of the day.

Columbia cut the lead in half in the sixth inning when Sam Miller flicked a ball into center field to score a pair. Cole Fellows and Cole Hage scored to make it a 4-2 game. The Lions stranded runners on second and third to end the inning.

The Quakers added a run a half inning later when Cole Palis singled in Jarrett Pokrovsky to make it 5-2 Penn. In the seventh, Penn batted around and tacked on five runs to take a 10-2 advantage.

Miller drove in his third run of the day on a groundout in the eighth inning. Sunday was Miller's fourth 3-RBI game of the season. Jack Kail also recorded an RBI groundout in the inning.
