Lions can clinch Ivy Tournament No. 1 seed with win Sunday
The Lions (22-14, 14-3) have now won seven straight games and crushed eight home runs on Saturday en route to their 16th Ivy League Championship. With a win Sunday, Columbia can lock up the No. 1 seed and host the Ivy League Tournament which is set for May 17-20.
In the second inning of game two, Griffin Palfrey hit Columbia's 73rd home run of the year and set a new program single-season record that was previously broken last season. Columbia and Cornell (13-16, 10-7) wrap up the three-game series on Sunday at 12 p.m.
Game 1 Recap
Columbia took the lead two batters in on a Palfrey RBI double. Cornell responded with a four-spot in the home first inning and then added two more in the second to go up 6-1.
Sam Miller blasted his 10th home run of the season in the top of the third to cut the Big Red's lead in half, 6-3. Columbia quickly tied the game with home runs from Eric Jeon and Cole Hage in the fourth inning.
