Baseball Sets for Home and Conference Opener against Harvard

The Lions return to Robertson Field at Satow Stadium for a doubleheader Saturday; 12 p.m. start Sunday
NEW YORK — Columbia baseball hosts Harvard this weekend to open Ivy League play from Robertson Field at Satow Stadium. The first pitch in Saturday's doubleheader is set for 11:30 a.m., with Sunday's series finale scheduled for 12 p.m.
Columbia has won 11 straight home openers going back to 2013. The Lions are 13-5 in home openers in the Brett Boretti era. Columbia is 52-10 at home over the last three seasons, including 12-1 as a host last season.
All three games this weekend are being broadcasted on ESPN+

Scouting the Crimson
Harvard opened the 2026 season with a 13-game road stretch with series at Tulane and Rice, before facing Liberty University. The Crimson wrapped up the away slate with a four-game set at California Baptist University, where it earned a win in its most recent matchup, 14-12.
Harvard was selected to finish fourth in the 2026 Ivy League Baseball Preseason Poll.
The Crimson returns several significant hitters from last season, including senior infielder/right-handed-pitcher Gio Colasante (.314 average, 10 home runs, 33 RBIs), junior infielder Tyler Shulman (.291 average, 20 RBIs), and junior infielder Jack Rickheim (.276 average, 24 RBIs, 43 hits).
Harvard brings back several key pitchers from a year ago, including senior right-hander Gio Colasante (36 strikeouts in 31.2 innings), sophomore left-hander Luca Alagheband (28 strikeouts in 25.1 innings), and junior right-hander Ryan McHugh (team-high four saves).

The Lions swept a three-game set in Cambridge on May 3-4, winning 16-13, 8-3, and 19-1 to secure the Ivy League Regular Season title. Columbia faced the Crimson twice in the Ivy League Tournament, earning a 4-1 victory in 10 innings in the opening round, and a decisive 14-6 win to capture the conference's automatic NCAA Tournament bid.
