Baseball Welcomes Harvard This Weekend to Open Ivy Play

Lions continue eight-game home stand
NEW YORK — Columbia baseball hosts Ivy League foe Harvard from Robertson Field at Satow Stadium this weekend, starting on Friday at 11:30 a.m. with a doubleheader followed by the series finale on Sunday at 12 p.m.
This weekend's games between the Lions (4-11) and Crimson (2-11) can be watched live on ESPN+ or followed via live stats. Ryan Young will have the broadcast call.

Last Time Out
The Lions kick-started their eight-game homestand with a 12-8 victory over Hofstra on Tuesday from Robertson Field at Satow Stadium.
Columbia clobbered two home runs in three different innings, including the first and second frames in their first home midweek matchup of the year. On Tuesday, 10 of Columbia's 12 runs were a result of the long ball.
Brandon Madrigal got the start and tossed three innings of one-run ball with four strikeouts. The Lions' staff struck out 11 on the day.
Jack Kail posted the first four-hit game of his career, recording a home run and three doubles. His three two-base hits tied a program record in a single game (last done by Cole Hage in 2023). Owen Estabrook socked his first-career home run as well.
Home Cooking
Columbia is 29-5 at home since the beginning of 2022. Earlier this month, the Lions swept a three-game sweep over Marist. Columbia combined for 39 runs in the series and Jack Cooper had a monstrous performance, garnering NCAA National Player of the Week. Cooper was 9-for-12 (.750 BA) in the series with four home runs, seven runs scored, 15 RBIs, and 22 total bases in the Lions' sweep. For the week nationally, he ranked first in RBIs, second in batting average and slugging percentage, tied for third in home runs, tied for fourth in total bases, and sixth in on-base percentage.
Scouting Harvard
The Crimson have lost four-straight and are 2-11 with all of their games coming away from home. Ben Rounds leads the team in batting average, runs, hits, OPS, slugging percentage, on-base percentage, and total bases. Starting pitcher Sean Matson has a team-best 3.32 ERA through 21.2 innings pitched. Harvard was picked to finish third in this year's Ivy League Preseason Poll.
